Important First Steps

The Retirement Research Foundation is eager to assist grant seekers preparing to submit a proposal.  Please note, as of November 1, 2011, the Foundation has made changes that need to be taken into consideration if you are applying for our February 1, 2012 deadline.

To help you make the most of your time and resources, consider taking the following steps before submitting a full grant proposal.

1.  Review and follow the guidelines available at the Apply: Grants page.

2.  You may wish to take advantage of the opportunity to send a Letter of Inquiry.   This step is optional but can help you receive initial feedback as you decide whether to complete a full proposal.  You may use the outline presented below for a two-page summary.

3.  Outline what you propose to do:

  • The issue you wish to focus on and/or the target population
  • Geographic area for your project
  • Why the project is needed–and why now
  • Proposed objectives and what you expect will change as a result
  • Principal proposed activities
  • Timeframe for completing the proposed work
  • How you will use evaluation
  • Who is leading the effort and the qualifications
  • Cost of the project, amount of funding needed, and amount already secured.

Please allow adequate time before application deadlines of February 1, May 1, and August 1 so that we may assist you.   Thank you for your interest in the Retirement Research Foundation!
