Through 2015, The Retirement Research Foundation’s Accessible Faith Grants Program made funds available to Chicago area houses of worship for accessibility improvements to their facilities. The Foundation hopes that such improvements encouraged increased participation in the programs, services, and activities that occurred in these facilities for older adults from both the congregation and the surrounding community.
Grants were awarded for up to 50% of a project’s total cost, to a maximum amount of $30,000.
Although the Foundation closed the program as a special initiative, limited opportunities for funding accessibility improvements may be available to Chicago area houses of worship that are located in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, or McHenry counties in Illinois.
